#ilPOLIMIrisponde – Design and data usage
Design is both a discipline and a profession, well known for putting people at the centre of the innovation process. Gathering data, mainly qualitative, and describing the context and actions in a specific situation.
During this process, design collects data that attempts to interpret current socio-cultural phenomena, market trends, but also people’s actions and desires. Often using first-hand observation methods. In studying design processes and problems, for each project the designer collects at least 15 different types of qualitative data, ranging from the observation of activities in specific contexts to interviews with experts and users, to information given by the user proposing the design problem.
