It is a journey through time, back sixty years, to the origins of the laser; a story that unfolds between CNR and Stanford University; a life that is intertwined with that of other giants of physics such as Anthony Siegman, Richard Pantell and Arthur Schawlow.
“I remember that period as a particularly exciting time, because everything we did was absolutely new,” admits Speedy, with the vivid awareness in his eyes that he had been part of something important.
